VHF marine channels
UK VHF channel guide. Always monitor channel 16 when underway.
⚠ Channel 16 (156.800 MHz) is the international distress, safety and calling channel. All vessels with VHF must monitor channel 16 when underway. Never use channel 70 for voice.

Using your VHF radio
Calling: Make initial contact on channel 16, then agree a working channel and switch over.
HM Coastguard: Monitors channel 16 continuously. For non-emergency calls use channel 67.
Marinas: Most UK marinas use channel 80 or channel M as a calling channel.
Channel allocations are correct for UK coastal waters. Check local regulations when sailing abroad.
